About Me

My name is Mr. McNeill and I teach Science and Math!

I was born to teach

I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the fall of 2019 with dual degrees in Physics and English, as well as a minor in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE). I know many of you may not consider yourself a “math person,” or a “science person,” and I just want you to know that I did not believe I could be successful in Math and Science when I was in high school either. I only began to believe in my own abilities in Science and Math during my later years of high school and into college. I soon discovered that I was fascinated by Physics, and grew to see that with hard work I could do well in the many Math courses required for a Physics degree.

I hope to share that same enthusiasm I eventually gained for STEM with you this year.I am a relatively new teacher, but I am excited to continue learning and growing along with you as we all adapt to our new online environment.

It’s important to me that we all treat each other with respect, dignity, and humanity. I will always do my best to help you succeed in the classroom, and to reach the goals you have set for yourself outside the classroom as well. I have faith in each of your abilities, and I truly believe that everyone can succeed , regardless of your prior experience or background. If there’s ever anything you need from me, please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email or Canvas. I look forward to getting to know you this semester!

Greensboro, NC

I was born in Raleigh, but I grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina. I attended Grimsley High school where I learned from phenomenal teachers in their IB Program.

This is me with one of my favorite teachers, Freebird. He was one of the many inspirations that led me to teaching.

Raleigh, NC

I began my teaching career as a student teacher at Broughton High School in Raleigh. I taught Honors and IB physics, and helped coach basketball as well.

Raleigh, NC

My first real teaching job was at the Wake Young Men’s Leadership Academy in Raleigh. I taught Precalculus, Math 1, and Math 3 there for one semester. It was a phenomenal place to gain classroom experience, unfortunately my time there was cut short due to COVID.

Durham, NC

I taught at Northern High School in Durham for two years from 2020-2022. I taught everything from Physics to AP Calculus, and I also coached Girls Basketball, Girls Tennis, and Boys Tennis! I loved my time at Northern, but moved on to Wake County when my girlfriend decided to go back to school.

Garner, NC

I have joined the Garner Magnet High School community for the 2022-2023 school year, and I am so excited to be here! I will be teaching Physical Science and Earth/Environmental Science this year.

Outside of School

Outside of school, I love to read, spend time with my family and friends, and stay active! Ask me about the books I’m reading, the sports I’m watching (or playing), or how the Tar Heels are doing.
